Bank of Cyprus, Byron House

Nicosia

2015-2017

1st Prize, Private Competition

Area: 600 sqm

The Bank of Cyprus Byron House is a 1930’s listed building of exceptional quality, a landmark of its time, signaling the transition of the architecture of Cyprus, from vernacular to neo-classical, with colonial and modern references. In this sense, the house is a reflection of the transitory culture of the people of Cyprus at the time.

The general concept is that the mansion becomes a centre of hospitality for BOC, where guests can be hosted in an intimate, authentic and refined quality environment. The scope is to formulate the right ambience that can stimulate familiarity and communication, free of barriers often present in business-like environments. The spatial organization is such that a high level of flexibility is offered, making possible parallel events, or events of different scale, ranging from an intimate dinner for four to an indoor grand dinner for sixty, or even outdoor events for larger groups.
